M is for Monterey

Monday, April 13, 2015

For Spring Break this year the girls and I decided to road trip to Monterey California. Being eager to get to the beach as soon as possible we made the somewhat unwise decision drive there without a day pit stop in Vegas. It was a long 13 hour drive, but we made it and it was well worth the long drive.

Monterey California

Where we stayed: We stayed at The Hyatt Regency in Monterey
What we did: Paddle Boarding @ Lovers Point, 17 mile drive, Highway 1, Beach @ Carmel-by-the-Sea, Electric Bikes @ Pacific Grove Where we ate: Orange Peel,Grill at Lovers Point, Pizza my Heart, Kai Lee Creamery, R.G Burgers, Peets Coffee and Tea, Rosines Restaurant
Total cost: $430 each (hotel for three nights:$210 each, gas:$90 each, food:about $70 , equipment rentals:$60 each)

The Drive

The drive was super long, but it was anything but boring these lovely ladies and I kept up our spirits by dancing in the car, and talking about everything there is to talk about...We even made impromptu stops to look at goats.

Lovers Point

Paddle boarding at Lovers Point was probably one of the funnest things we've ever done we spent the day sun bathing on our boards being scared by cute little sea lions/otters (whats the difference?I don't know) and at least for me falling into the ocean.

17-Mile Drive

Highway One

Driving down 17 mile drive and Highway one was one of the most serene moments of the trip, connecting with nature and seen the beauty of the earth was just astounding.

Pacific Grove

Driving electric bikes down the coast was so much fun! Allexis was definitely a natural while Romina and I need a bit more help. After our ride we got to goof around in a candy shop that had all the sugar and random tidbits that our hearts could desire. We had an AMAZING time together and this is just one of the many trips that we hope to take together. We left Utah as best friends and returned as sisters.

New Years Resolution: Have more adventures

This year we made the resolution to have more adventures, to travel more, to explore more, to have more fun. Our first trip was a "staycation" We headed over to Midway to soak in a geothermal hot spring.
This Crater was just perfect! the water was AMA-ZING and we all came out feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

We were in the crater for a little over an hour, with only a few other people. Its definitely a spot that we will be coming back to. Mostly because we want to try paddle board yoga.
Afterwards we headed on over to a cute little diner called "Spin Cafe" were we had a great dinner and according to Allexis the best peach cobbler she has ever had.
